Gliding is a short film from Writer Director Galina Chakarova. It is a glimpse into the life of Alma as she goes to visit her Grandma. Starring Ailema Sousa and Shirley Wiggins, the film is a gentle reflection on the stress that the Covid 19 pandemic put on families with elderly relatives to care for, and the importance of physical contact to mental wellbeing
Gliding was an Official Selection at BIFA qualifying Little Wings Film Festival in London, and an official selection at the BAFTA and OSCAR qualifying Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur Short Film Festival in Switzerland. It was also selected for Lucas International Film Festival in Frankfurt and Minimalen Short Film Festival in Norway, where it was in the youth film competition, Lighthouse International Film Festival in New Jersey and Walthamstow International Film Festival in London.
Gliding was recently reviewed and given 5 stars by online review platform Short Films Matter, who described it as "A poignant exploration of resilience and responsibility during the COVID-19 pandemic." The full article can be read here.
